The Dark Side of Information Technology

Technology playing an important role in today's world. but as the power of technology is increasing with every single day and number of users are increasing day by day. information technology reduces the human capacity of thinking and it's killing the creativity. now people don't want to put efforts in anything, they are more dependent on technology, because now a days everyone says no to a orange, unless you peel it and offer it to them.

On a company-by-company basis, a number of studies have found that companies that use more IT have higher productivity than their competitors.However, we may be entering an era in which human frailties begin to slow down progress from digital technologies. In a series of studies, we explored the implications of IT-induced technology stress, technology addiction and IT misuse in the workplace.

Information technology has long been viewed as the power behind a new economic revolution — an evolving set of tools that has made workers much more productive than ever before, powering a step change as dramatic as steam or electricity. The dark side of IT is not so dark as the advantages are more as compared to limitations in my ponint of view

Information Technology plays a very vital role in nowadays in our life. It helps us in various different levels of our work. Now a days all the works are done through online
But as we say that if somethings have good ways they have bad ways too.
Information technology have its dark phase that now a days all the works are done through online it may cause that our work or info gets leaked or the hackers may also do something wrong with our sites or work etc.

Much of the collaboration and communication capabilities provided by new IT paradigms (e.g., cloud computing and tools) enable positive outcomes such as interoperability, productivity gains, and access to greater quantities of information at a faster pace. However, increased IT usage leads to problems of information overload and multitasking, and modulates the functions in the workplace. Information overload, an undesirable condition that occurs when the information to be processed exceeds one’s information processing capacity.

Information technology has changed the way of doing business. People and firms heavily rely on technology to make life easy. It saves a lot of time and helps in managing things well. On the contrary, Information technology has its own drawbacks. People have turned out to be more lazy and lethargic. Over reliance on technology is a serious issue. We do not tend to remember things and this has challenged our imaginative capacities. Security breach is another issue which is lead by unauthorized access of data, applications or services. This addiction towards technology also leads to several health issues. Infact, in today's age of digitalization, we are driven by technology.

It wouldn’t be incorrect to state that behind all the advancement in the present scenario technology has the greatest contribution in it. Inspite of the fact that it has resulted in various ups and downs in the traditional methods of working it is of great help and support and cannot be eliminated. It has revolutionized the scene.
But this fact cannot be ignored that people now are much lethargic than they were used to be at pre-technological era. As excess of everything is bad misuse of technology can cause blunders. Technology addiction has worsened the situation. The constant use of smart phones for checking messages, e-mails, etc. Most people can’t even go one hour without checking their phones.

Although there are so many advantages of information technology but along with this there are disadvantages also. IT affects our organisational and social life. By the use of improved technology the productivity and creativity of humans decreased, we become lazy. Their is loss of employment because of reduction in labour work as all industries are becoming more capital intensive,loss of security as sometimes data can be hacked by many people.

I am not completely in favor of dark side of information technology as it has completely changed our lifestyle and also working of the corporate industry. Yes, Information technology do have negative effect like it leads to the reduction in efficiency and effectiveness of the employees in corporate because they are suffering from 'technostress' which results in lack of innovation and we also cannot ignore cyber attacks but if we use technology wisely we can remove the dark side of the information technology.

we know information technology helps us in many ways which reduces human efforts,for eg:- its helps a person to collect a huge amount of data easily,it also helps us storing and interpretation of that data,it reduces time so that a person can devote his time on key areas,etc,.
but every thing has is limitations also so as information technology has,these are as follows:-
1.As mentioned earlier that it reduces human efforts,thus it make people lazy,
2.It also makes people dependent on it,
3.many people use it in a wrong way like,illegal hacking of accounts,data,etc,
4.if the system breaks down then the whole work get delayed,
5.sometime it becomes the main reason for home life conflicts.

As everything have a good and a dark side so there are also some dark side of information technology. Some of the persons are using technology for there benefits as well as some of are using to harm others. IT hurts employees and their organizations, risk thy pose, misuse by their employee, IT use induced stress, addiction of anything is also not good ,etc.

Recent studies conducted by professional/industry bodies reveal interesting and often alarming evidence about how IT is being used. For instance, 43 % of users find the use of smart phones stressful; 60 % of users cannot go for an hour without checking their phones for messages and email; 30 % of users check their smart phones at meals, 24 % while driving, and 54 % in the middle of the night or immediately upon waking up.1 According to one study, people spend as much as 28 % of their workday on IT-related interruptions , which may translate into huge monetary and psychological costs, while a separate study reports that it takes approximately twenty minutes to get back to the original task after the interruption . More alarmingly, 50–75 % of all information security breaches stem from misuse by users/employees.2 Such evidence indicates an emerging dichotomy in IT-enabled patterns of work and collaboration: that of quick and easy information access and flexible work patterns versus addiction, misuse, overuse, and stressful use .Academic research is beginning to focus on negative impacts of IT use.

As we all know Information Technology plays a very vital role in nowadays scenerio. It helps us in various dfiferent levels of our work. Nowadys all the works are done through online.Every scientific invention and discovery is the imagination and creation of human mind. Technology should be used as a tool to develop and invent better techniques. Those who treat technology as a tool get a better help and living, rather than those who restrict themselves and get tied to the technology.

As we know our topic is on the dark side of IT(information technology) department.Its true that where it is a helping hand for the people on the other hand it have it's dark side also which is to be showed. Now a days,we all are getting so much attached with latest technologies by using it in our day to day life and we have made it a part of our daily routine.For example:-smart phone, smart phone users use their gadget in the time of driving,At middle of the night or immediately after they wake up.Users cannot leave an hour without their phone or without checking their phones for message and e-mail.As we all know that where their is an advantages their exist an disadvantage too.i.e There is a conflict between quick and easy information,messages.mails etc versus addiction, misuse,overuse,and stress.As we use our gadgets more and more we result into the following 5 problems they are:-
Stress
Work overload
Interruptions
Addiction and
Misuse.

information technology has truly changed the world,increased the efficiency but then also has made people to become addictive of it.
-like people now prefer to google everything rather than finding out new and logical solutions for the problem.so it has hindered the creativity of the person.
-they prefer to spend more time on social networking rather than going out and meet friends and family.
-also many a times we came across faulty and duplicate productions online.
-although information technology allow data and information to be stored and accessed easily but there are many flaws related to it especially when using online like data can be used by some unauthorized person,it can be altered or removed permanently.

In recent years, digital technologies have been transforming workplaces and increasing economic productivity. In a study, it explored that implications of IT-induced technology stress, technology addiction and Its misuse in the workplace. The very qualities that make IT useful are reliability, portability, user-friendliness and fast processing but on other hands it may also undermining employee productivity, innovation and well-being. Another aspect of the dark side of IT is the threat of employees misusing organizational IT resources and triggering “attacks” of different kinds. So we can say that technology on one hand helps and make our life easy and on other hand it put no thing unturned to destroy our life.

Information technology means, the advanced and technical ways of information, the electronic ways of information. If we talk about information technology, then it means we are talking about television, computer, telephone, mobile phone, internet etc
Technology has made life easier and more comfortable and that it has enabled us to perform tasks that we could not do otherwise. A list of the benefits of technology would be very long indeed. However, as with almost everything we human beings have created, technology has a downside. There is, we might say, a dark side to technology.It has effected our creativity in negative manner. When we perform or do anything we trust technology first more than ourselves or any other thing.
Information technology is a gift of science, but its excessive use can made it a curse. So it depends on us that in what way we use it.

Everything has its Pros & Cons,same is applicable with Information Technology too.With the increased addiction to social networks and internet games, people are spending more time on computers and give up on their normal offline life.And access to harmful information which corrupts people’s minds and drives them to commit crime.And also, Over dependence on information technology makes students less active and innovative.So it has some darker side too.

With all the positive advancements technology has bought us, unfortunately the misuse including cyber-bullying, cyber attacks & excessive time online just to name a few, can negatively affect us with short & long-term consequences.

IT(information technology) is a very essential thing in our life. Today We cannot imagine our life without technology as we are all surrounded by technology all over.
As a name suggest it gives all the information related to technology. The best example of improving technology is the advancement of internet facilities which are taking place all over the world. But on the other hand, there is a universal truth that whatever has some benefits should be having some demerits also. Thus, IT sector is also having some of the drawbacks or we can say there is a dark side of IT. By elaborating this dark side we can say that it uses a huge amount of electricity, it pampers the eyes of a human being, and now a days people prefer more busy with their mobile phones rather talking to one another face to face. Another drawback is the earphones, which many people are habitual of, like they used to keep on their earphones on a loud music every time and they do not listen to anyone, that is also one of the reason for most of the road accidents now a days.

The technology is playing a vital role in transforming the companies by making them give up traditional way of doing things to more technology dependent.
Information technology has definitely reduced the manpower as more work can be done with less man power. which has made our work easier but made humans more inactive and lazy. One should use technology which helps them and not affects them.

Information Technology play a very important role in running an organization. Like every second thing it also have its own pros and cons. It totally depend on the user on which side he wants to incline more. Because of this I don't believe that IT can result in snapping anyone's well being. It is only helping the company and its employees to grow more effectively and efficiently and is for sure reducing the work load and time taken.

The dark side of information technology is that it reducing the man power day by day.People becoming lazy and they do not want to work without any IT support. Some frauds that take place with use of Information Technology are not understood by most of the world population as hackers have come up with very innovative ideas of extracting your information and because of this many people suffer huge loss.

With the introduction of information technology, we are sad to tell about its darker side. The amount of cyber crime being done this days is really intolerable and misuse of information technology has lead to more destruction around the world.

There can be a negative side resulting from inappropriate or overuse of technology and that negative side can have serious and long-term consequences.To make the best out of tools of technology,teachers and parents must also recognize their downsides and how to avoid them.One improper use of technology is that it can put privacy and safety at risk.
