Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
1) About the Author and explanation of title-
Richard Bach, the author of the story Jonathan Livingstone Seagull has presented the story in the best possible way. One part after the other and one dialogue after the other gets ourselves attracted more and more towards the story.
The title is Jonathan Livingstone Seagull, where each of these words which are Jonathan,Livingstone and Seagull have hidden meaning behind them which relates them to the story:
Jonathan-According to old testament,Jonathan was the oldest son of Saul, whose relationship with his father was not going great, the
same was with Jonathan Seagull.
Livingstone-Here the word livingstone is given to the title as in the story,Jonathan tries to know the aim of living or to know how to get
freedom,in other words living his life to the fullest.
Seagull-Seagull here is used as for the readers to know that Jonathan was a seagull as at the time of reading we get so absorbed in the
story that we tend forget that Jonathan was a seagull or a man.
2) About the plot-
The story revolves around a seagull named jonathon, who always wanted to give up traditional way of living and doing the things which make him happy. The author had used simple sentences which are easy to understand. The story leaves a deep impression on the reader and forces the reader to re think about the aim and meaning of life. It revolves around a seagull named Jonathan, who takes the reader into a different world where he can feel like he himself is a part of the story.
3) Charecter i liked the most-
There is an absolute choice about the character of the story which i like the most, it is Jonathan Livingstone Seagull, not because he is the main character of the story, but for the ways he looks at things and perceive them, the quality of not being feared of getting known as an outcast because of doing things which are not considered normal by many. He was well determined in his aim and had a never ending thirst of learning more and more, the desire of getting to know the true meaning of life and living it the way you want.
4) Takeaways/Learnings
After going through the story, there are many new things that I had learned. Now it constantly reminds me to always try to learn something new and continue to explore the things which give you inner peace. It teaches us that if we don't do anything just because of the fear of the society then it is ourselves who are going to suffer the most,if we fear the society it might get possible that many of our hidden talents will be buried inside before they can live. It teaches us that all our limits are nothing but just a thought, many of the things around us look impossible to us just because we had already decided our limits,we are afraid of trying as we are lacking in confidence,we should tell ourselves that there is nothing like limits. Another takeaway from this story is that we should never get satisfied in the process of learning. We should develope the tendency of learning new things after the other, and the taste of a task done successfully should be the inspiration of next task. I had also learnt that failure should not discourage us or no matter how many times we fail,we should gather more strength to do it again and early or late we will surely accomplish what we aimed for.

Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
1.Richard David Bach (born June 23, 1936)[1] is an American writer. Bach is widely known as the author of some hugely popular 1970s best-sellers, including Jonathan Livingston Seagull (1970) and Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah (1977). Bach has authored numerous works of fiction and non-fiction, including One (1989) and Out of My Mind (1999).Jonathan Livingstone Seagull” is a contemporary fairy tale that relies on modern time themes. Unlike the traditional fairy tales where you have mythical creatures here you have fictional creatures. It’s not only a modern fairy tale but also an allegorical story because the whole plot points out to something more that the story appears to be telling.
2. The whole story is about a seagull. In the beginning of the story it describes how the main character; "Jonathon" lives with the other seagulls and how he is supposed to live by the rules of the flock. Jonathon breaks the rules of the flock by practicing flying, going higher and faster than any seagull has ever flown. At one point in his practicing flying faster, he nearly crashes into one of the other seagulls and gets banished for disobeying the rules of the flock. Because he keeps up his own practices there are other seagulls who begin to follow. As a result Jonathon becomes a teacher. One day one of his students, Sully, flies too fast and almost kills another young gull. To escape hitting the other younger gull he crashes into a cliff and instantly transcends into another form of living, flying being.
3. The character I like the most is Sullivan,The thing which I like most about this character is that he was very good adviser who guides Jonathan in every situation. He also motivated him. He boosted him to achieve his goals and never criticized him and the way he explained Jonathan about the heaven and their lives impressed me.
4. What I see as a lesson in this book is Simplicity in conveying the thoughts on life. Limiting ourselves is the worst thing in the world we can do. But the one who challenges limits is the one whom the society rejects and yet it turns out that the one is one whom others follow.
Savior need not be god, but savior could be anyone who inspires you to look beyond the possibilities. The savior needs faith in his capacities, and its only faith which stops us too from being one and it teaches lessons on how to live in the present and how important passion is to anyone who wishes to be truly alive.

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
Richard Bach was Born in 23rd june 1936, he was a great writer of 1970s. He was an ex airforce pilot and had written some great books. He was very much found of writng from his school days. In his book “jonathan livingstone seagull” Richard has used the metaphor of seagulls flying to demonstrate that if we follow our dreams and achieve our goals, we can do it no matter how tough it is.
THE STORY- The story is about a seagull (jonathan) who lives with his parents. Jonathan, who wants to fly higher than any other seagull. This journey becomes more adventurous when Jonathan is banished from his Flock because he tries to live his dream that is flying and the flock does not want him to fly rather they tells him that he should look for food to survive. But he overcame all the barriers that came into his path and learnt to fly, fly as high as he could, for him life was not just about survival, for him life was much more than that.
The character I liked the most is Jonathan itself just because of his amazing confidence level and hard work which he has shown while trying to fly. As his parents and other seagulls were also apposing him but he is good with his determination and just because of his confidence and determination he achieved his goal.
My takeaways:-
1- Always have trust in yourself
2- Listen to everyone but be focused on your goal.
3- Have a strong determination
4- Never stop learning
5- Encourage others

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
Ans1). Richard Bach was born on 23rd June 1936 is a writer and pilot and author of three books and is widely known as 1970s best seller including “Jonathan Livingston Seagull”. In which Jonathan seagull was not an ordinary seagull, for him flying is not merely meant for finding food but it is a life itself, this thought make him alive in everyone thought because he achieve whar he loves even after soo many conciquences. In this book he gave new sky of thoughts and dreams to his readers. He is a author who is in love of flying, in love of hights, who love to dream high as he was a Pilot too. Through this book he does two things, first he gives us new Flight of dreams, he makes us Young by heart to do what we actually desire and wanted to achieve in life to mark up our unique identity in the world. He is truly an inspiration for all those people who dream but afraid of moving toward fulfilling that by giving some excuses to themselves.
Ans.2) This story is for the people who follow their dreams and make their own rules. This story named “Jonathan Livingston Seagull”,tells us about a seagull who is fed up with his life’s daily squabbles over food. He was nailed by a passion of flight, he pushed himself to learn everything that he can about flying, so finally his unwillingness to conform the rules of his family of flocks results in his expulsion from his dearones. But inspite of his outcast, he continued to learn, becoming very much pleased with his abilities as he was started leading a peaceful and happy life.
One day, Jonathan met two gulls who took him to a "higher plane of existence" which was not heaven but better world of perfection of knowledge. There he met other gulls who was also in love of flying high. He discovers that his sheer tenacity and desire to learn make him pretty different well one among million bird. In this new place, Jonathan fraternize the wisest gull, Chiang, who takes him to the second level of his previous learning, taught him how to move instantaneously anywhere in the Universe. The secret, Chiang says, was "begin by knowing that you have already arrived." Jonathan was not satisfied with his new life, so move back on the Earth to find others like him, to teach them what he learned and to spread his love for flight. His mission is successful when other gulls gathered around him who have also been outlawed for not conforming. Ultimately, his very first students, Fletcher Lynd who was a Seagull, becomes a teacher in his own right, and Jonathan leave from there to teach other flocks of Seagull.
Ans.3) First character I liked the most is Jonathan, the main character in the story, represents the individualistic human desiring to fulfill his personal willingness for perfection in the area that he dreamed for him. For Jonathan, that field of endeavor was learning how to fly high.
For most gulls, it is not the flying that matters, but eating. For Jonathan it was not eating that mattered, but flight because he flew for the love of flying rather than to catch food. Jonathan Livingston Seagull loved to fly, dreamed to become different from his flocks because of that he face expulsion but in the end he become a beautiful learning for his flocks because what he learnt he tried to share and teach that to other also, he worked hard for his dream, he never ever give up, so this character inspired us to stand up whenever we fall, learn from the past and apply that learning to grab your future opportunities, many obstacles will come in your path but don’t get sidetracked move on the way you are, soon and one day you will definitely reach to your destination.
Second I liked the Elder Gull, Chiang, serves as a metaphor of God, taught Jonathan lessons that included the mechanics of flight and also encompass the philosophical applications of the knowledge to serve his own purposes and to allow him to help others.
The trick, according to Chiang for Jonathan was to stop him seeing himself trapped inside a limited body...The trick was to know that his true nature lived, his dream is alive and if his dream is alive than he is alive. And the best thing I like in this character was he was sharing his knowledge to other seagull by teaching them how to fly high by being in nature what you are, so this is true that if you wanted to expand your knowledge and become master of it than start communicating that to other in the best way you can otherwise your learning will die one day, so ensure its life.
Ans4). My takeaway from the story was :-
1. We all are imperfect so we should try hard to become perfect and that limited edition, because the thing which is limited is seems the important and specific.
2. Never stop learning and practicing and striving hard to understand more of the perfection.
3. Break the chains of thoughts with which you are grown up, try to find new chain or create a new one which will build your different beautiful and appreciable identity .
4. You have to practice to see the real person the real quality in you and also help other to see good in themselves. That’s love. It’s fun, when you get the artistry of it.
5. Always take failure as a lerning experience.
6. Look with understanding, find out what you already know so that you can put your energy in polishing that and in learning new thing only after than you’ll see the way to fly because “ A real jonathan seagull actually lives within us all.”

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
Jonathan Livingston Seagull, a seagull who is bored with the daily squabbles over food. Seized by a passion for flight, he pushes himself, learning everything he can about flying, until finally his unwillingness to conform results in his expulsion from his flock. An outcast, he continues to learn, becoming increasingly pleased with his abilities as he leads a peaceful and happy life.
I liked most line in second part that is “Sully, for shame!” Jonathan said in reproach, “and don’t be foolish! What are we trying to practise every day? If our friendship depends on things like space and time, then when we finally overcome space and time, we’ve destroyed our own brotherhood! But overcome space, and all we have left is Here. Overcome time, and all we have left is Now. And in the middle of Here and Now, don’t you think that we might see each other once or twice?”
I liked most is seagull because "Most gulls don't bother to learn more than the simplest facts of flight--how to get from shore to food and back again," writes author Richard Bach in this allegory about a unique bird named Jonathan Livingston Seagull. "For most gulls it is not flying that matters, but eating. For this gull, though, it was not eating that mattered, but flight."
Learning from book
1.Don’t believe what your eyes are telling you. All they show is limitation. Look with your understanding. Find out what you already know and you will see the way to fly
2“You have the freedom to be yourself, your true self, here and now, and nothing can stand in your way".”

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
1. The author Richard Bach was an American writer, born in 23 June 1936. His books are mainly autobiographies inspired from his life events. The story The title of the book is very apt , as it itself shows by the word livingstone that there is no limit of learning. One can achieve anything by his/her hardwork and determination. This convey the message of living your dreams and passions.
2. Jonathan Livingston Seagull tells the story of a young seagull with big ambitions. Jonathan Seagull pushes himself to fly at tremendous speeds, eventually reaching a higher plane of perfection. Later, he returns to his flock to teach the ambitious among them what he knows. Jonathan ignored his parents and spends all his time practicing flying. He rejects their belief that a seagull's sole purpose is to eat and instead studies the mechanics of flight. He's banished because of this. Jonathan reaches a higher plane of existence, where he studies with the elder gull Chiang, who teaches him the secrets to "perfect speed." Jonathan returns to his flock to teach them what he has learned.
3. The character which I like the most is Jonathan itself. Because he was passionate and he desires to fulfill his personal search for perfection in the area that is important to him. opposed by everyone, including his own family, this character experiments, until he figures out the dynamics of flight and practices its techniques to perfection. He gives inspiration to anyone who wants to succeed beyond the limitations.
4. My learnings are if we follow our derams we too can saw this. No matter what others say do what you want to do. Be passionate, determinant and enthausiastic about your dreams. Never give up after failures because you learn from your failures. So believe in yourself.

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
1.Richard Boch is one of the most famous American writer who wrote Jonathan Livingston Seagull in 1970s.Most of his books are based on semi autobiographical using the elements of actual or fictioned character of his life.He was very passionate of about writing books. He loved flying since the age of 17.While flying he was badly injured on approach of landing his aircraft which crashed.
The title of the book is very much suited. Here as we have seen that there is a bird called seagull who cant fly.Every one is aiming to find their own food and live their life. But Jonathan Livingston Seagull wanted to be different in his flock and wanted to fly so that he can know his abilities.
2.In this book there is a title named Seagull who is a bird who cant fly.All are involved in busy finding food but he was passionate about living. He loved to fly yet opposed his family. He pushes himself to fly so that he can learn. He met two gulls who took him to high where they believed to be a better world with a better knowledge. The other two gulls whom he met loved to fly made him to learn more about how to fly. When he was about to fly he met Chiang who taught him how to fly in universe.By this he was dissatisfied with his life and wanted to go back to earth where he can teach others of his flock to fly.And his first student Fletcher Lynd Seagull became teacher and Jonathan started teaching others of his flock.
3.The character which I liked the most was Chiang because he is the only one who motivated Jonathan to fly.At the same he also taught at what speed he could be able to achieve goals of his life.
4.My takaways from this story are:
We should try to know our abilities to achieve our goals.
We should continue our learning until we reach our goal.
We should never give up because we don’t know what the next level of our life may give us tomorrow.

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
1. The author Richard Bach was an American writer, born in 23 June 1936.Bach is widely known as the author of some hugely popular 1970s best-sellers, including Jonathan Livingston Seagull. His book Jonathan Livingstone Seagull (published in 1970) was very famous book among all the books written by him.
Jonathan is the name of gull (seagull) and the whole story is describing the hard work and determination of that bird in achieving the success. The title looks very interesting as it makes readers curious to know about the seagull. After performing feats of tremendous courage and skill, Jonathan is expelled from the flock. This gives him the freedom to develop his skills, and in so doing he reaches a higher plane of achievement, a heaven of sorts. The lessons that Jonathan learns in his travels reflect both a greater peace of mind and a freedom to be himself.
2. The story is about Jonathan, a seagull who loves flying and wanted to fly faster and develop his skills unlike the other gulls who daily had clashes over food, he was frustrated with the same routine life and due to his behavior and love for flying the other flock disowns him and exile him after which he went to place where the gulls enjoyed flying he gets motivation from Sullivan and then he starts teaching other gulls, when he gets an opportunity to return with his flock to Earth he goes with them without any refusal or grudges whereas the other students of Jonathan spread their instructor’s teaching of freedom and flight in long missionary journey to every flock on the coastline.
3. The character which I like the most is Jonathan. I loved the way he continued his love for flying he teaches his students and was there at the side of each of his student demonstrating, suggesting, pressuring and guiding he wanted his students to learn the new skills and when he got an opportunity to return with old flock he goes with them without any grudges and complains to share his ideas and skills with them in the same manner we can develop our skills if we are on a right path and passionate about our dreams. We should encourage our abilities and give our best to reach at the top level of our ambition.
4. The book taught a lot, the way Jonathan was being disowned from the flock he doesn’t leave what he loved to do, he wanted to fly and wanted to learn more and more each day. In the same manner it is easy to give up but if we have strong will we can achieve all our dreams , the book teaches that it is not necessary to follow something we don’t like to do if we have talent and passion about something we love then we just need to work hard and nothing is impossible.

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
Richard Bach is one of the famous American Author. He is a kind of person who is very passionate about his writing stream. He wrote several books with interesting tittles.
And one of his book is "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" is a perfect tittle as the tittle itself shows by used the word LIVINGSTON that their is no limit ,one can live on his/her own conditions and their is no limit of learning .Everybody is free soul in this world to achieve their life goals. Also Jonathon is the name of Richard Bach's SON.
The character which I like the most is the character of Chiang. Who helped to fulfill the dreams of Gull and supported him. He supported him as her parents. He tried and understand the dreams of seagull and motivated him to fulfill it. He gives the reasons for gull’s actions, desires, and needs. As Gull was confident of what he is doing, but he wanted someone who support him, direct him when he feels weak and Chiang was the person who did this for him. He did this without having any kind of greed or temptation. So, I liked Chiang character the most.
my takeaway is always be passionate about your dreams.

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
JONATHAN LIVINGSTONE SEAGULL
1.Richard Bach an American writer who used real life events to illustrate his philosophy. his literary career began with this book itself & now is a renowned writer because of work.He in his early career was in aviation industry & this goes without any doubt that he loved flying. So this book came into existence as he decided to write a book sharing his thoughts on flying & freedom.
Now talking about the title Jonathan Livingstone seagull the author has talked about the seagull & tried to convey the readers that how a seagull named Jonathan in the book overcomes his fears and frustration to live a normal life quarreling for diff things. He loves to fly high unlike his flock. Author tries to convey a message that we should live our life according to our terms conditions rather than the societal norms.BY this we can live a peaceful life.
2. Jonathan who is the main character around which the book evolves, is unlike other seagulls in his flock. He loves to fly unlike his mates & because of this desire of his he was neglected by his mates and even thrown out his Flock. But he had the determination & broke all the shackles to continue pursue his dreams of flying high. Seagulls are known not to fly high but Jonathan was apart from them. He after being thrown off from the flock he met two seagulls & was immensely influenced by his teacher cum friend CHIANG who told him “Keep working on love”, because untill and unless you don't love what you do you can achieve heights. He became determined when he was told by chiang that “you have the freedom to be yourself, your true self, here and now, and nothing can stand in your way."
3. The character that made a mark on my mind was CHIANG because:-
He had the Influencing power to motivate Jonathan.
He was of that thinking that life is for 1 time only & you should love it and you should explore your what you like.
He helped Jonathan overcoming his griefs and filled him full of confidence in such a way that he was able to go back to earth from heaven & confront his flock and teach other seagulls what he learnt in heaven.
We all have people like CHIANG in our lives that teach very imp. Lessons & we should respect them and follow their teachings.
4. The takeaways that i will have are:-
- Limits are just in your minds.
- To set apart from others you may have to move away from others.
- Believe in yourself as you are the one who is going to make the difference.
- If you are being helped then you should have the onus to help other too.
- Sky is the limit if you are determined.

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
1 Few lines about the author and also explain the title
Richard David Bach (born June 23, 1936) is an American writer. Bach is widely known as the author of some hugely popular 1970s best-sellers, including Jonathan Livingston Seagull (1970) and Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah (1977). Bach has authored numerous works of fiction and non-fiction, including One (1989) Most of Bach's books have been semi-autobiographical, using actual or fictionalized events from his life to illustrate his philosophy. Bach's books espouse his philosophy that our apparent physical limits and mortality are merely appearance.
The title “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” is basically the name of the main character of the book and is a seagull.
2 A paragraph on the story/plot
The whole story is about a seagull. In the beginning of the story it describes how the main character; "Jonathon" lives with the other seagulls and how he is supposed to live by the rules of the flock. Jonathan Livingston Seagull flies through the air far above the rest of his flock. This fine seagull knows there is more about himself, and more to life, than what the rest of the flock sees. And at every opportunity, he seeks it out. The story Jonathan Livingston Seagull is telling us, the readers, to always push yourself toward achieving your goals. To make yourself a little bit better every single day and to never give up on yourself. Jonathan Livingston Seagull is a seagull who never really fit in with the others; he would be the one who was looked down upon in the flock. The seagull in this book became the best. He teaches others to fly fast and how to move and how to be themselves.
3) The character you liked the most and why?
The character I like the most is Chiang, because he helped to fulfil the dreams of Gull and supported him & he also taught him the secrets to "perfect speed” is the key of heaven & happiness. He motivated him to achieve his goals.
4 Your takeaways/learning (elaborate)?
This is a story for the people who follows their dreams and make their own rules. This story inspired me the most because this story tells as about the importance of making the best use of our lives, even if our goals runs far from the norms of our flock, tribes or neighbourhood. Somewhere our lives are also stuck in a routine where people go to work make money to buy foods and come back home and a repetitive process goes on. Unfortunately, society force that human should have home, job, make money, etc. We should take some advice from this bird, it’s there that we must go to work, we must pay bills, we must pay rent, we must buy food, etc. But at the same time, we should also try to improve our self and make our self-better people, we should try new skills that we already have, we shouldn’t come from work and sit and waste a time.

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
Richard Bach is a well known American writer. He is known for his love for flying. He has also served in the U.S Navy and the New Jersey Air National Guard’s fighter wing. Bach’s books are usually related to flying which clearly depicts his zeal for freedom in life. This ravishing book with an exquisite title is very appealing and personifies the author’s love for flying, through a bird that carries the same zeal in the story. It symbolizes the importance of freedom in one’s life and to be passionate about dreams. Jonathan- a seagull has been a perfect character to showcase how one can stretch his boundaries and live for his passion.
The story revolves around Jonathan Livingston who is shown as a passionate learner and one who follows his dreams. Most gulls do not bother to learn more than the simplest facts of flight and to get food for them. Jonathan was different and one of the kind. He wanted to fly and reach new heights with each try. Every time he would tumble and crash, but he never gave up. He was eventually disowned by his group and went away to live a life of his choice when he experimented and learnt new ways of flying. He later found gulls that were like him and so he stayed with them to learn more. He became more proficient in his endeavor but there came a point of dilemma where he wasn’t able to decide if he should continue there or go back to his own flock. He chose the later after which other gulls got inspired and joined him. He became a teacher and guide to many others, becoming a kind and loving soul. Jonathan proved that the most powerful force that exists is to ‘believe in oneself’.
The most appealing character to me was Jonathan Livingston. I was moved by his passion and determination to outperform and chase his goals. Though this made him unpopular among the flock and he was banished, but this didn’t dissuade him. The fire in his belly encouraged him to be different and try harder each time he failed. His character reminds me of a beautiful line from one of my favorite poems “The Road Not taken” by Robert Frost-
“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I –
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.”
Some of the learning one can infer from the story are:
• We must always keep our dreams alive and work towards it with all our will and determination.
• We must never fear experimenting good things in life and work to push the capabilities.
• Failures and hurdles are a part of life. We must face each challenge with optimism.
• “Nothing great in the world has been accomplished without passion”. We must listen to our heart and follow our passion.

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
"Great Leaders are made, not born"
This is the quotation which i personally feel, suits alott in this story written by mr. Richard Bach namely "Jonathan living seagull" and this book breaks all the records when it published in 1970 including the best seller book of the year.
Ans1). The question is to say about the author who is mr. Richard Bach, he himself a very great personality who gives a new sky to his readers through his books which generally talks about the thoughts, thinkings, interest etc.. Mr. Richard Bach always tried to make people aware about to follow their thoughts and always used to say people to do what you actually want not that what others want you to do.He won so many awards in his life with the help of his books which always motivate people to do their tasks.
Ans2). This story tells us about a seagull who wanted to live his live in a way he want. He was different from other seagull because other wanted to fly not because they love but for the search of food, on the other way Jonathan wants to fly because he wanted to touch the hight. In the first part Jonathan go against his family and move for the fulfillment of his dream. He tried at his level best to learn how to fly high.
In Part II, Jonathan reaches a higher plane of existence, where there is no limit of height to fly and about learning. There he was taught by the elder gull Chiang, about the Perfect Speed and also about how to be on height by keeping your feet in touch of land in reference of nature.
In Part III, Jonathan came back to his flock to teach what he has learned to other who was also having same dream like him because he knew that they are also not made to fly only for searching food, but they are made to make a difference among all.
Ans3). I liked the two character in the whole story
First is jonathan itself, why because he is the one who initially develop a strong feeling in me to achieve my dreams. He was the one who tried hard, who face all the pain just to achieve his dream. He not even at single point think of giving up his dream. His such dedication make me feel pround on his character shown in the story.
Second The Chiang, he was the one who was continuiously living his dream by teaching other seagull a Perfect speed of flying. Why I liked this character because he was actually ensuring the life of his learning by communicating or teaching that to other. If we wanted to keep our idea alive we need to communicate it in a way that can compel other to think upon it, so he is a great tutor because he teach with enthausiasm and with great zeal.
Ans4). My takeaway from this story is
Do what you want, not what other wants you to do because you always give your best in the field of you choice not in the field you are force to work.
I would like to give my own example that when I cleared my Higher secondary with good marks, everyone wanted me to go for CA course but I didn't wanted to go for that, I wanted to do MBA because I dreamed to be an Entrepreneur but because everybody insisted me so I decided to gave it a try but as i have already mentioned, that was not an area of my interest so gave up in the mid and than i finally decided to go for MBA and here I am feeling happy and also feeling like finally I have started moving toward the goal, I always dreamed of.

The title defines as that somewhere there’s a higher way of living than scuffing the tracks of others, someone who yearns to fly the way their own heart yearns to fly.
"Jonathan Livingston Seagull" is a wonderful story about a seagull that has been kicked out of his community for being different. Jonathan wants to be more, see more and live differently than the mass of gulls on his beach. He is an individual who refuses to just follow the mass of mindless gulls in his community. He lives at the Seashore, but he is not allowed to be with the other gulls because he can't adjust or fit. He takes off and learns to fly away from the group and he goes higher and farther than any other gull ever has. Jonathan explores his world and enjoys his freedom.
The character which I liked the most is Sullivan, this is because he is a very good motivator and kept on motivating Jonathan throughout his journey of becoming expert in flying. Peer learning is something which plays a major role in one’s life. Sullivan gave him the best of the advices and hence ended up by becoming my favourite character of the story.
My takeaway from the story is you should never give up and should try again and again until and unless you win. Practice makes perfect hard work gives you result one day

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
1. Richard David Bach is a renowned American writer. He has written some great work like Jonathan Livingston Seagull (1970) and Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah (1977). The stories in his book are inspired from his own experiences. Most of Bach's books have been semi-autobiographical, using actual or fictionalized events from his life to illustrate his philosophy. The title “Jonathan Livingston seagull” is basically the name of the main character of the book and is a seagull.
2. Some things in life can termed as small and some very small with regards to this book, I think it should be termed as miniscule, with regards to the number of pages that is. And that is very its minutiae ends, for it is a book which covers a quantum leap in terms of thought. Jonathan Livingston Seagull is the story of a ordinary seagull who fed up with the mundane life aims for the higher skies. He is mocked by his near and dear ones but his aspirations to fly higher and higher do not fade. He has to suffer initial boycott by other seagulls. He finds a “Guru” in Chiang another sea gull who dared to dream big and achieve it. Jonathan Livingston Seagull finally achieves the success he wished for and starts training the other ambitious sea gulls. The trend of dreaming big, achieving it and training the ambitious gulls continues. He then emphasizes on “working on love”, meaning forgiving the loved ones and helping the weak ones. The story ends with this moral.
3. The character I liked the most is Jonathan Livingston Seagull because he was very hardworking and passionate about what he wants to do. He was focused to his goal and could not care what other gulls were thinking about him. He wanted to live his life on his conditions. And the best thing about Jonathan Livingston Seagull was his never giving up attitude.
4. This story taught me that if a person has a endless desire of achieving his/ her goals and fulfilling the dreams then nobody can stop him/ her. A person can achieve anything in life with strong will, endless desire and determination. "Nothing Is Impossible"
Some amazing quotes from the book:
• “Don’t believe what your eyes are telling
All they show is limitation. Look with your understanding
Find out what you already know and you will see the way of fly”
• “If our friendship depends on things like space and time, then when we finally overcome space and time, we’ve destroyed our own brotherhood! But overcome space, and all we have left is Here. Overcome time, and all we have left is Now. And in the middle of Here and Now, don’t you think that we might see each other once or twice?”
• “You will begin to touch heaven, Jonathan, in the moment that you touch perfect speed. And that isn’t flying a thousand miles an hour, or a million, or flying at the speed of light. Because any number is a limit, and perfection doesn’t have limits. Perfect speed, my son, is being there.”
• “You have the freedom to be yourself, your true self, here and now, and nothing can stand in your way”
Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
Richard David Bach was born on 23rd of June 1936. He was born in Oak Park in Illinois. His books are mainly autobiographies and somewhere around linked with his life events. He is known for his love to fly, it was his passion and reflected in his carreer as well as he served in United States Navy and the New Jersey Air National Guards fighter wing.
Aviation was always being passion of him but his teachers made him feel that her love is writing then he wrote aviation related books as it can be reflected through his books like Jonathan Seagull , Stranger to Ground and later flight. His belief is failing is not a bad phase of our life , it is a part of life and for him failing is graduating.
Speaking about the title “ Jonathan Livingstone Seagull” I believe that there is a message behind the title also , lets break the title into three part
-Jonathan -Livingstone - Seagull . It is a story of a seagull namely “Jonathan” who is regularly struggling to make himself a fine flier . Just like a stone unless and untill its been carved in any useful shape it is useless , an individual should also carve himself to make his life purposeful and fruitful , so here in this story the seagull is been compared with a stone as he did not stop himself from learning new things and finally carved himself in an unique and one of a kind shape . According to me this might be the best supporting reason for this title
It is a story of a seagull namely “Jonathan” who was just like common gulls, but there was a spark inside him to do some thing different rather then doing all those monotonous things which the common gull do , like searching food and all that , so he decided to make himself different from others , he thinks that each and every moment of our life should be memorable and each and every thing happening to you whether it is good or bad it should be because of you only . He wanted to be a fastest gull in the world and he strived hard for the same . His journey was full of ups and downs , even after getting outcasted because of his uniqueness and disobeying of the so called norms of seagull community, he never looked back and just keep stretching his abilities and strength beyond his limit and he reached to a new island where there were more gulls having some or the other unique qualities in them , there he met chiang who turned up into his mentor .
My favourite character in this story is Jonathan himself as he is the perfect example of an individual who started his journey from the scratch and by learning new things from his failures he reached altogether to a new level.
Life is all about winning and loosing , its upto you that whether you take your failures as learnings or you lament it. As in this story also, Jonathan tried and many time he fell but he never gave up, instead of lamenting he stood again and back to bis work . In the end finally he became brilliant and one of a kind .

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
Richard David Bach is a well-known American author and has written some hugely popular 1970s best-sellers, including Jonathan Livingston Seagull(1970) and Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah (1977).The title “Jonathan Livingston seagull” is basically the name of the main character of the book and is a seagull.
And the name Jonathan is kept after his son's name.It is story for one who knows that somewhere there’s a higher way of living than scuffing the tracks of others, someone who yearns to fly the way their own heart yearns to fly.
Jonathon lives with the other seagulls and his family where he is supposed to live by the rules of family and friends. Jonathon tried to break the rules of the group by practicing flying, going higher and faster than any seagull has ever flown. After practicing flying faster, one day he nearly crashes into one of the other seagulls and gets insulted for disobeying the rules of the group. But he keeps up his own practices and other seagulls begin to follow him .As a result Jonathon becomes a teacher and teach other seagull to fly high and fast.
The best characteristic in this book according to me is "Jonathon" because he was the only seagull which took a stand and went against the rule of his group or flock. After facing so many difficulties he achieved what he wanted and he also inspired and encourage other seagull to achieve what they wanted .
It is a story that tells us that somewhere there’s a higher way of living. We can achieve what we want to achieve in life.We have to believe in ourself and work on our dream. After many failure we will achieve what we want to,but for that we have to continuously work on it and never give up.And inspire and help other in achieving their dream.

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
“Most of the other birds didn’t bother to learn more than the simplest facts of flight…..for them, it is not flying that matters, but eating. For this gull, though, it was not eating that matters, but flight.” It is a phrase taken from the book Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach, an inspirational tale of a bird who irrespective of daily difficulties wants to fly and live life to the fullest. Unlike other seagulls, this one had a zeal and enthusiasm in itself to live life the way it wants.
After going through the book what I believe that Richard Bach has a love for flight. His books are mostly related to flying in some or the other way like A Gift of Wings, Biplane, Nothing by Chance and many more. He had an Aviation career, which reflected in his writing styles.
The story talks about a seagull that was so passionate about flying and learning every detail about it that no other thing can affect. He wanted to learn everything he can about flying which bothers his parents because he was not like other gulls. Unlike other gulls, he was more inclined towards becoming perfect in flying. Then seagull met the wisest gull, Chiang, who taught him expertise in flight and secrets to perfect speed. Then he returned to his folk to teach them what he learned.
The character that I liked the most was Sullivan, a very good friend of Jonathan who always supported and encouraged him to achieve his dreams. He was a live example of what a real friend should do to make him achieve his goals to fly to the next of perfection.
This book explains the quote “NEVER WALK ON BEATEN TRACKS.” What is right for others may not be right for you. If one is desperate to achieve his/her dreams then no matter what, he/she must not give it up because others are not a part of it. Also never stop believing in yourself. If you intend to do something live up to your expectations.

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
1. Richard David Bach is an American writer. He has authored numerous works of fiction and non-fiction. Most of his books have been semi-autobiographical, using actual or fictionalized events from his life to illustrate his philosophy. Bach's books espouse his philosophy that our apparent physical limits and mortality are merely appearance. During his childhood he was terrified by high places but after some time he generated an resistance to it. At 18 he quit college to take flying lessons and after that he got selected in Air force. He got the job of fly civilian airplanes and to write about flying. After that he did various kinds of jobs like residential letter carrier, marine draftsman, writer for airline pilot handbooks etc. But he never got satisfied. The one who told him never to quit was "Jonathan Livingston Seagull". According to Richard Bach "The fictions, the dramas we act, teach us quietly the power of Love". Jonathan Livingston Seagull, clearly tells us about the Richard Bach who flew for the love of flying rather than merely to catch food.
To explain the title "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" I want to quote some lines that "To the real Jonathan Seagull who lives within us all". This line states that there is a Jonathan Seagull lives in everybody. Jonathan Livingston Seagull means "self-discovery through seeking a higher existence as a nonconforming individual". It tells us to develop the practice of listening to a voice other than those that clamor around us. According to it, if you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, but make allowance for their doubting too…There is certainly some fear in starting to become the person you were born to be. If you’ve spent your life trying to do what is expected of you, your stepping out of that role may cause some consternation on the part of the people around you. Your new way of living may expose the drab existence that they are still clinging to.
2. This book is about Jonathan Livingston Seagull, one of the many seagulls from the Breakfast Flock colony. The gulls dodged and fought for food off the fishing boats, except for Jonathan Livingston, who would practice soaring into the sky, doing various maneuvers not intended for gulls. Jonathan would soar and then glide. Though he stalled and fell many times, he picked himself up and practiced some more. He learned from his mistakes and kept on “course correcting.” This attitude Though he failed many times, got discouraged and tried to conform, the passion, fire in his belly, and the drive to be better, forced him to try harder. Being a very introspective gull, he would deconstruct to determine what he did and make improvements. One day he went too far, so thought the Council Gathering who summoned him to Stand to Center for Shame. Jonathan was banished from the colony.Though Jonathan Livingston Seagull had to leave the flock because he was banished, he believed in his dream and continued to live it. He kept on practicing his flight. Eventually he met other seagulls who were banished as well from other colonies. And he took the time to train them. Jonathan continued to learn. He was able to master himself. He also learned about love. He went back to his Flock, to see if there were other outcasts who he could help.
3. The character that I liked most was Jonathan Livingston Seagull. He represents the individualistic human desiring to fulfill his personal search for perfection in the area that is important to him. I am inspired by his thinking of listening to his inner voice and also from his passion of flying high despite having short wings. His aim was not to filling his belly with scrap fish but to experience the freedom of flight enjoyed by other bird species. In this era when everyone is following the footsteps of others, it encourages us to do the things in which we are interested and have the passion to achieve those things. It encourages us to enlarge our personality by not limiting ourselves to born characteristics. He taught us that we must set aside all of the things which limit us in our quest for excellence. He taught us that precision flying, that is, reaching perfection in some area, was just one more step towards our true nature which is in the image of the Great Gull.
4. Learnings from the book
i. Listen to your inner voice, don't blindly follow the footsteps of others.
ii. Learn from you failures.
iii. Never stop learning.
iv. Embrace new ideas and ways of doing things.
v. Keep challenging yourself.
vi. Know and master yourself – know what you can and cannot do – and work to push beyond your limits one step at-a-time.
vii. Experiment until you get “it” right, and “it” depends on your role in life.
viii. Embrace your passions.

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
1. Richard Bach David is an American author born in 1936. He finished his studies in Long Beach in 1955. Soon after he finished school he joined the navy and the National guard program. Also, he became a pilot in the Fighter Squadron USAF.
After being a part of the army he started his writing career and his first three books were about flying a plane and they were a reflection of his love towards planes. They were named “Stranger to the ground, Biplane” and “Nothing by chance”.
His book Jonathan Livingstone Seagull was published in 1970 and made him famous.
Jonathan, the title character in the story, represents the individualistic human desiring to fulfill his personal search for perfection in the area that is important to him. For Jonathan, that field of endeavor was learning how to fly, in the ultimate sense of the act.
2. In this book, there was a seagull bird named Gull. He was different as compared to other seagull who spend their whole life in finding food and coming home. For them flying is just a means of finding foods. But Gull was very passionate about his life and his way of living. For him flying is life itself. He was fortunate about flying, but as usual it was against of seagull society. His family, neighbor and relatives want him to spend his time flying out to sea, flying out to the fishing boat, diving, catching food and fish and come back home. But j Jonathan Livingston Seagull thinks that life is lot more than that, there is more out there, he wants to enjoy himself, he wants to fly to feel what is like to be alive. He has learned by practice a way of flying so that he can fly super-fast, where he does enjoy himself, where he doesn’t need to use his entire wings span, he can bring his wings in and can change the shape of his body to fly with more intensity and more speed. And the elders of his flock don’t agree with what he is doing. He uses his ability and time to be the best that he can be being a seagull. The seagull in this book became the best. He teaches others to fly fast and how to move and how to be themselves. Even though there were difficulties that end up and they followed gull and realized that there is more to life then flying to 5 feet, flying should be more of a purpose not just survival.
3.The character I like the most is Jonathan as he tried every effort to achieve what he wanted he loved flying so he pushed his limits to do the same and I loved the line when he says to his students that " everything that limits us we have to put aside " as well as he says "break the chain of your thought and you break the chains of your body". He teaches that we should come out of our comfort zone as we always underestimate our own self and judge that we cannot do something just because we do not give our best to it.
4.My learning’s from the book are:-
. Passionate for your dreams.
. Trust yourself.
. Learn from your mistakes.
. Encourage others.

After that he met with two other gulls who also loves flying and who supported him, being with them he learns many things. After that he met another elder gull named Chiang who taught him how to fly in speed. Then ultimately he went back to his flock to teach them whatever he has learned.
3. The character I liked the most is Jonathan itself. I like his determination towards his aim .i.e. flying . He faces many challenges but never lose hope and continued to follow his dreams and finally achieved them.
4. My takeaways :
• Never stop learning
• One should have strong determination towards his/her goals
• Always have faith in yourself
• One should always learn from his/her failures

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
1) Richard David Bach is an American writer. His novel Jonathan Livingstone seagull was the best selling in the US. The book cover the story of a gull who live his life own way.Since Jonathan Livingston Seagull - which dominated the #1 spot on the New York Times Bestseller List for two consecutive years - Richard Bach has touched millions of people through his humor, wisdom and insight. This creates a space of Richard Bach in the heart of the people.
2) Jonathan Livingston, a protagonist, is a seagull who decides that the mundane life of fighting for food like other gulls is not for him and finds the lofty aim in life. While pursuing his dreams, he faces many difficulties and at one point, our beloved Jonathan is even banished from his flock. But Jonathan is brave enough to defy the Flock and continue his search for perfection. In the later part, fable gives new age idea to stop seeing oneself as trapped inside limited body and of finding peace within oneself to find heaven. In the last part, Jonathan tries to render back what he has learnt in all of his life and sets the same aim to another generation which connotes feeling of indebtedness.
3) The character I liked the most in the story is ''Chiang'',the Elder Gull.He serves as a metaphor for God, teaching Jonathan lessons that included the mechanics of flight but went beyond them to encompass the philosophical applications of the knowledge to serve his own purposes and to allow him to help others. He helped Jonathan for achieving his objective of life.
4) My takeaway from the story is that you do those things in life which you wanted to do.You should not worry for others that what people will say. You have own life so you should have whole control on your life. You will only be succeeded in life when decision of every moment is taken by you. Other people can only guide you but the ultimate decision must be taken by you . You cannot blame anybody else for whatever things done by you. In the real world, nobody takes others blame. So, Be passionate for whatever you are doing and keep believing in yourself.

Re: Analysis of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach
Richard David Bach is an American writer; he was a tactical fighter pilot, a motion picture stunt pilot, and flight instructor before becoming one of the world’s bestselling authors He penned down several fiction and non-fictional literary works. His Jonathan Livingston Seagull was also adapted into a film too.
The title “Jonathan Livingston seagull” is basically the name of the main character of the book and is a seagull.
The story is about the bird who wants to break all the records of flying too high above the sky and as well as in night too. The story describes the ambition of bird to fly at tremendous speed and after achieving the success he also teaches to other birds to reach at that point. Jonathan (bird's name) has determination and will power of achieving what he dreams gives learning to other birds too. The elder bird also scolded Jonathan for all his work but in spite of all hurdles he never loses his hope. Chiang, an elder gull, plays very important role in Jonathan's life as he taught him how to increase the speed while flying. Also he was also ready to learn something new anytime.
The character I liked the most is the senior seagull Chiang who taught Jonathan the real scenario of perfection in flying by telling Jonathan that " Perfect speed is the key to Heaven; flying a thousand miles is not the real success but it comes when perfection doesn't has any limits."
My takeaways are that you must be focused and listen to your heart. You should be inspired and inspire others also. One must follow his/her dreams and be unique.
