Before understanding the vital role of Information Technology in the modern organization, we need to understand what IT actually stands for, according to the definition of IT by wikipedia, "Information technology (IT) is the application of computers to store, retrieve, transmit, and manipulate data, often in the context of a business or other enterprise."
Once we are done with this part of the topic, half of our job is over. For every organization, may it be big or small, national or international, or falling in any category, they have to manage data and retrieve them in future. IT makes this way far easier then anyone's imagination. And this had now become an irremovable part of business.

In today's era, only those person are regonised who have knowledge and with technology which means in indian idiom is SONE PE SUHAGA OR ICING ON THE CAKE Information technology is an emerging era of today's economy. It has become the necessity of many of the organisation. Without IT its become impossible for adapting the new technologies and to grow more. Life without IT cannot be imagined. It is a useful tool and an important one for the organizations as it makes the work a bit easier through its different tools. Its a modern and effective tool.

It helps junior management by providing operational data for planning and control, and helps them in decision making. It helps the Middle management in short term planning, target setting and controlling business functions. IT sector gives more employment opportunities. now a days, video conferencing is a tool use for business and pleasure. A video conference allow to a more individuals to see each others and speak as though they were talking in person.

I think, it is impossible to attain long term business success without leveraging the benefits of information technology in this digital age. The companies have to bear a reasonable cost to achieve this success because using an innovative approach in business strategy, employing highly trained IT professionals and making right decisions at right time are the prerequisite of business success. As IT solutions continue to increase the productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of business operations and communication, business will continue to rely on Information Technology for success.

IT plays a very important role in the modern organisation. IT in today's time acts as a foundation for every single activity taking place withing the organisation.
